Safeguarding

At CN4C, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community for everyone. Our values—Better Lives, Better Off, and Better Sense—guide us in protecting and supporting all individuals, especially those who are vulnerable. We focus on preventing harm, empowering people with choices, being accountable for our actions, working with local partners, and offering tailored support programmes. By keeping safeguarding a top priority, we ensure a respectful and secure environment for all.

Our Commitment to Safety

At Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C), we prioritise the protection, safety, health, well-being, and welfare of everyone in our community. We believe that all children, young people, and vulnerable adults are entitled to protection from abuse and the necessary support to achieve their full potential.

We adhere to the statutory guidance of Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children, acknowledging our responsibilities under the Children’s Act 1989 and Section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Our Approach to Safeguarding

In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education, we assert that safeguarding is a collective responsibility. Every individual within our organisation, irrespective of their role, is tasked with actively safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We are committed to a 'whole organisation approach' to safeguarding. Consequently, all staff members undergo comprehensive training in Safeguarding and Child Protection, as well as in the Prevent Duty 2015 to counter radicalisation.

We take any concerns about safety very seriously and act quickly to address them. Our policies and procedures are designed to keep those we serve at the heart of everything we do.

We disseminate information on Safeguarding and Child Protection to our community members and ensure compliance with evolving legislation.

Our Safeguarding Team

Our safeguarding team is dedicated to providing the highest level of protection and support for those in our care. Each team member is Level 3 trained in safeguarding, with Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) achieving Level 4 certification. Additionally, we are all trained in Prevent duty, ensuring we are equipped to address and prevent radicalisation.

We are all trauma-informed, enabling us to support individuals with sensitivity and understanding. The young people team has further expertise with SEND safeguarding training, county lines awareness, and is well-versed in substance use awareness and screening for young people.
